July 16, 2022 - We Want to See Your Kayaking Photos!* (SKCO Friendly Photo Contest)
We've been having a lot fun seeing your adventures and sharing some of your river photos on our Facebook page. And, it gave us a great idea! To say thank you to our customers, we're having a friendly photo contest. The rules are pretty simple. Submit a photo of you, your friends or family, your river dog, or the wildlife you've spotted kayaking on the Conemaugh River. We'll gather up each week's submissions and share them to our Facebook page. The photo with the most votes wins. You'll receive one pass for a free single kayak rental from the Conemaugh Dam to our shop to be used anytime for the remainder of the 2022 season through the end of the 2023 season. You can submit one (1) photo for each round through Facebook messenger or by email. We can't wait to see your photos!
* Photo contest will begin Thursday, July 14, 2022 and will end August 27, 2022. There will be three rounds, with winners announced on July 30, August 13, and August 27, 2022. Photos must be submitted by the previous Friday to each announcement date; July 22, August 5, and August 19, 2022. Participants must be 18 or older. Photos will posted to our Facebook page. Each like received counts as one vote. The photo with the highest likes at the end of each round wins. The winner will be notified via the form photo submissions were received (via email or Facebook messenger). If no response is received after five (5) business days, a new winner will be selected and the previous winner will forfeit all rights to the prize. The prize must be collected by the winner and is nontransferable. Ties will be broken by a panel of independent judges. The prize free pass may be used on any operational day in the 2022 or 2023 season. Reservations are highly recommended. Submitted photos must be original work, taken by the entrant. Violators will be removed from the contest, stripped of any prize(s), and banned from entering future contests. By submitting a photo, entrants agree that photos submitted can be used by Saltsburg Kayak & Canoe Outfitters for marketing purposes. Submissions will not be accepted after the deadline lapses. Entrants may participate in each round with a new photo. Saltsburg Kayak & Canoe Outfitters reserves the right to disqualify any entry that is deemed inappropriate or does not conform to the stated rules. Contest dates are subject to change. Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law.
June 30, 2021 - Free Kayaking, Anyone? We’re Giving One Customer FREE Kayaking for the 2022 Season.*
We truly have a great group of customers! It’s always fun to meet you, to hear your stories, and to share our little piece of river paradise each year. To show our appreciation….we’ve come up with something we think you’ll love. Starting on July 1, 2021, every rental and livery customer (18 years and older) will receive an entry to win one free Conemaugh Dam Float each week for the entire 2022 season. That’s one free float each week from Memorial Day through Labor Day (single kayak rental or livery service). What could be better than that?
The rules are pretty simple. Kayak with us on the weekend or a holiday weekday and receive one entry into the raffle. Kayak with us on a weekday (non-holiday) and receive 5 entries! We’ll pull the winner on Labor Day 2021!
*Participants must be 18 or older. Winner will be drawn on September 6, 2021. The winner will receive a Customer Appreciation Punch Card with their name on it; card is non-transferrable; no cash value. Card is valid from Memorial Day 2022 to Labor Day 2022; includes one single kayak, PFD, paddle, and whistle rental or livery service (Conemaugh Dam Float only) each week of the 2022 season (14 total). Reservations are required prior to use. Subject to availability; reservations are first come, first served. Subject to weather and river conditions; at the discretion of Saltsburg Kayak and Canoe Outfitters staff. Any unused weeks will be forfeited.

Whether you prefer a relaxing float along the Conemaugh River, tree-lined hills rising from the water on both sides, or an exciting ride along the wooded West Penn Trail, Saltsburg Kayak & Canoe Outfitters (SKCO) has the recreation adventure for you. Located at 111 Market Street in the historic George Altman Mill, the all-purpose livery is conveniently located only 45 minutes from Pittsburgh, and even closer to shopping and dining centers in Westmoreland County.
SKCO will provide all the services and gear you need for a day-long trip into the outdoors. SKCO offers rental kayaks for those who crave solitude, and two-seat tandems or three-seat canoes, for a family-friendly, on-the-water excursion. With about 80 kayaks and canoes, SKCO has one of the largest selections in the tri-state area. If you have your own boat, the livery has you covered with shuttles to and from all of the river access points. For those who prefer a dry land adventure, SKCO offers bicycle rentals, and access to the adjacent West Penn Trail or the nearby Westmoreland Heritage Trail.
Excursions are toddler-friendly, and suitable for family or friends trips, corporate team building, wedding parties, family reunions and more. With reasonable all-day rates — with prices starting at $28 for kayaks, $45 for three-seat canoes and $20 (all day) for bicycles — and a helpful and knowledgeable staff, SKCO has everything you’ll need for your outdoor adventure. SKCO's season opens Memorial Day Weekend (pre-season trips are by reservation only and conditions permitting). Reservations are required.
